MATCH SUMMARY
  • First Half
    • The Evangels set the tone from the first kickoff firing off a few chances before the first breakthrough in the ninth minute with freshman Liv Houlston scoring her first goal in Evangel colors. Off the turnover from the Braves' keeper near the corner of the 18-yard box, Houlston was able to fire one into the open net to give MACU the lead.
    • MACU quickly doubled their lead in the 17th minute after excellent post up play by Brae Baker who laid it off for a quick ball in behind the Braves defense. A selfless ball back across goal by Rosina Mastro was finished off by Gladis Avalos for her first goal of the season.
    • Quickly after the second goal, the Evangels fired off the next three shots putting one on goal forcing the save. Ottawa started to grow into the game keeping more possession and creating a few corner kick opportunities and forcing Alba Vigo into her first save of the match.
    • The Evangels finish the half strong adding a few more shots to the tally taking a 2-0 halftime lead.
  • Second Half
    • A physical start to the second half as both teams knew the next goal would likely decide the direction of the match. Brae Baker grabbed her first goal of the season with a wonderful chip over the goalie as Cammy Hargrove was able to pick her out with a nice diagonal ball over the top in the 62nd minute.
    • Just six minutes later, Brae Baker doubled her account as she slotted one by the keeper on a breakaway. Anjelic Gonzalez was able to pick out her striker to give the Evangels the 4-0 lead.
    • The Evangels made it five with Maria Scopino who picked up the loose ball after it was cleared from an Evangel free kick and smashed it home into the bottom right corner! However, just three minutes later, the Braves would get on the board with their own set piece goal to cut into the MACU lead.
