MATCH SUMMARY
  • First Half
    • Both teams struggled to break through in the first 15 minutes as Brae Baker put the only long shot on-goal for an easy save by OCU goalkeeper Candela Blanco.
    • In the 16th minute, both teams got a shot on runouts as Anjelic Gonzalez had her shot stopped on the crashing Blanco before Amelia Horsford got a great look on a breakaway down the right side as her lofted shot hit the crossbar.
    • After roughly 15 minutes of evenly matched play, Mid-America Christian broke through in the 32nd minute when a displaced ball on the right side found a wide-open Stephanie Arrivillaga on the right side, as she lofted a perfectly placed ball to Rosina Masto, punching it inside the left post to make it a 1-0 game.
    • Oklahoma City only managed to put one more shot on-goal with a minute left in the half, but Abby Russell's strong strike was easily snared by MACU goalkeeper Ariana Solorio to keep it a 1-0 game going into the half.
  • Second Half
    • Oklahoma City got the first great look in the second half during the 53rd minute as Kayleigh Haygood got by her defender on the right side, but Solorio made a sensational stabbing save to push the shot over the crossbar to keep the MACU lead intact.
    • The Stars managed to pepper a few more shots on-goal in the 54th and 56th minutes, but Solorio was not challenged on either shot for the easy save on each.
    • OCU had another dangerous chance when Solorio was called for picking up the ball just outside the 18-yard box. From the left side, the floated header was pushed out before Abby Russell's rebound shot was sailed just over the crossbar in the 71st minute.
    • Neither side was able to get a whole lot of on-target chances until the Stars found the equalizer in the 89th minute. On the play a deep cross from the right corner found the foot of Ali Daughtery, who popped up a ball the box for Kayleigh Haygood to snap past Solorio into the right side of the goal, tying the match up with 1:08 left.
    • Neither team found another chance in the final minute as the match ended in a 1-all draw.
MATCH NOTES
  • Even though Oklahoma City held a slight 15-11 edge in the overall shots department, both teams equally placed five shots on-goal.
  • The goal scored by Rosina Mastro marked her first career MACU goal while the assist for Stephanie Arrivillaga was her third career Evangels assist.
  • Mastro and Brae Baker led the shooting efforts for MACU with three apiece as Mastro placed two on-goal while Baker had one find the frame.
  • Ariana Solorio's record moved to 1-1-1 in-goal, conceding just one score against one of the NAIA's top scoring teams while tallying four saves for an .800 save percentage.
  • Since the two teams started facing each other in 2008, the result marked only the second time the two teams played to a draw after MACU came away with the 1-0 win at the Dill Soccer Field on Oct. 15, 2024. The result also marked the eighth straight match that the Evangels either won or drew even with the Stars.
UP NEXT
  • Mid-America Christian will be back on the road on Tuesday night as the Evangels head west to Plainview, Texas for a 4 p.m. kickoff against Wayland Baptist.
