MATCH SUMMARY
  • First Half
    • The Evangels took advantage of the first chance of the game turning defense into quick offense stripping the Coyote defense and capitalizing in the 11th minute. Madison Chavez looped a high cross over the goalkeeper aiming for the back post that found the back of the net for her first goal of the season and to give MACU the early lead.
    • The MACU lead wouldn't last long, as just two minutes later, an unfortunate own goal off a set piece would bring the game back level again.
    • MACU responded well by firing multiple shots including a pair of shots from Gladis Avalos that were saved in the latter stages of the first half by Kansas Wesleyan goalkeeper Isabella Galvan.
  • Second Half
    • Mid-America Christian started the second half much like the first, on the front foot and looking for the lead. Brae Baker had a shot saved in the 53rd minute before breaking the deadlock just four minutes later with a perfect shot into the top corner. Baker found some space breaking away from defenders before rifling one by the goalkeeper from 20 yards out to give the Evangels the lead once again.
    • The Evangels continued the attack coming close to a third until the final ten minutes when the tactical switch came in effort to secure the victory.
    • Kansas Wesleyan had multiple dangerous free kick opportunities in the final few minutes of the game forcing great individual pieces of defending out of the MACU defense. Alba Vigo made a crucial save with 30 seconds remaining officially seeing out the remainder of the game protecting the goal advantage.
MATCH NOTES
  • MACU held a dominant shot advantage over KWU leading 14-7, with a 9-3 shots on goal margin.
  • Brae Baker led the Evangel attack with five shots, putting three of them on goal. Her game winning goal marked her second game winner of the season, and fifth goal in four games.
  • Alba Vigo wasn't called into action much making just two saves including one in the final 30 seconds as she takes her goalkeeping record to 3-1 on the season.
  • This was the second meeting between the Evangels and the Coyotes as MACU takes the all-time series lead to 1-0-1.
