Women’s Basketball on the Road against Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU Women's Basketball team quickly returns to action this week with a pair of games against crosstown rivals starting first with a short trip to Oklahoma City on Thursday evening tipping off at 6 p.m. inside the Abe Lemons Arena.

    • Mid-America Christian returned to the win column by picking up a massive win on the road against Sooner Athletic Conference Leaders Science & Arts in Chickasha, Okla. on Monday afternoon.  The Evangels improved to 9-3 in conference play, sitting tied for second just one game back of Langston for the top spot.
    • Junior forward Caitlynn Jordan leads the Evangels in scoring and rebounding averaging 14.4 ppg and 7.6 rebounds. Jordan scored a career-high 32 points off 11-19 shooting in the win over the Drovers on Monday afternoon. Caitlynn also cashed in four threes and shot 6-8 from the free throw line.  
    • The Evangels still rank top three in conference scoring despite their recent shooting struggles. MACU averages just over 70 points per game, shooting 41.3% from the field, 33.1% from threes, and 75.1% from the line. The Evangels also average eight and half three-pointers made a game, the second most in the SAC.
    • MACU continues to show why they're the most dominant defensive team in the conference with another fantastic outing on Monday afternoon. The Evangels came away with seven steals and five blocks, while holding the SAC leading scorer and passer to just 11 points and one assist. On the season, MACU forces 20 turnovers a game, collecting over 11 steals and 3.5 blocks. The Evangels hold their opponents to a conference low, 57.1 points per game.

    • Oklahoma City returns home after an 0-2 road trip out west as the Stars fell to 3-9 in conference play losing 78-64 to Oklahoma Panhandle State, followed by a 71-49 loss to Wayland Baptist on Saturday afternoon. OCU remains in 10th place, one game behind of the final playoff position.
    • The Stars are led offensively by Sophomore guard Ellie Willard who averages just under 16 points per game on 35% shooting from the field.
    • OCU sits closer to the bottom in offensive statistics averaging 58 points per game off 39.4% shooting from the field. The Stars have also struggled from deep at 28.6% making just five a game. However, they shoot more free throws than any other team in the conference averaging 21 attempts a game shooting them at 68%.
    • Oklahoma City holds a commanding all-time record against MACU at 33-7. However, the Evangels have gotten the better of the Stars as of late winning the last four consecutive matchups including the first meeting this season where MACU won 69-55 on Nov. 22 inside the Gaulke Activity Center. Caitlynn Jordan recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Evangels.
