GAME SUMMARY
  • The Stars scored the opening run in their first at bat with a two-out solo home run over left field for the early 1-0 lead.
  • MACU answered quickly in the top of the second with the bases loaded, Sammy Hallada reached first and scored Adam Hanan from third base. However, the third out followed and the Evangels left the bases loaded.
  • The Evangels took the lead in the next inning as Hanan once again got on base with a single. Cole Krepcik doubled to right field, then Julio Felix's RBI single scored Hanan's run from third.
  • The scoring came to a halt before OCU equalized in the seventh as the bases were quickly loaded after accumulating wild pitches and errors. The first run scored off an error, then a double to right field scored the next run to square it up at 3-3.
  • MACU stole the lead right back in the eighth inning as the defensive errors were traded back. Sammy Hallada reached first on a throwing error which scored Felix from second base to take the 4-3 advantage.
  • Mid-America Christian tacked on four more runs in the ninth to extend its lead. The first three batters reached base, until Krepcik scored the first run with an RBI single to right field. Felix credited an RBI for the sixth run, while Jesse Ortega pinch hit two-RBI single score Krepcik and Tuane Cope for an 8-3 lead.

GAME NOTES
  • Although MACU scored five more runs, they held just a narrow 8-7 hit margin. Both teams conceded runs on errors, but the Evangels committed just two errors to the Stars' four. The Evangels left a significant 10 runners on base, as the Stars left eight.

Hernandez surrendered just one earned run on six hits, walking just three batters while registering nine strikeouts. Gabriel Dixon credited the win with 2-2 innings pitched with just one hit, one walk, and two strikeouts.
  • The Evangels had three batters with two hits led by the dominant bat of Nick Hill who went 2-3 with a home run, while scored an additional run and the solo RBI. Julio Felix made the most of his first start with a 2-3 outing at the plate. Felix batted in two runners, scored a run of his own, and reached base on balls once. Cole Krepcik added a pair of hits on five attempts. Cole scored a run and batted one in as well.
  • Mid-America Christian still trails in the all-time record 13-47 even after this result, but the Evangels have now beaten their crosstown rivals in three consecutive contests.
