MOORE, Okla. – No. 14 MACU Baseball scored eight runs in the top of the eighth to blow the game wide open in a 13-6 runaway victory over Randall in Tuesday afternoon's non-conference midweek road game.

GAME SUMMARY
  • Randall struck first in its first plate appearance with an RBI single to right field for the first run. A walk followed and scored off a second RBI single to right field for an early 2-0 Saints lead.
  • The Saints tacked on a third in the third starting with a lead off single. The runner scored from another single through the gap from Jett Millsap.
  • The Evangels woke up their offense in the fourth after conceding two outs in the first two batters. Consecutive walks from Frankie Giacalone and Tuane Cope put runners on. Conner Thompson singled to center field to score Giacalone's run. Elijah Lee hit his first triple of the season to clear the bases and tie the game up at 3s. Lee scored from third on an error to take the lead. Then Jalen King doubled to right field to score Sammy Hallada as MACU now led 5-3.
  • Randall pulled one closer in the bottom half of the sixth with a single and a walk for two runners. An RBI single to center field scored the run from second, but the final batter struck out to leave two Saints on base as MACU just surrendered one.
  • MACU blew the game wide open in the eighth by scoring the most runs in one inning this season. The Evangels put up in eight spot starting with a lead off double from Cope. Thompson reached first on an error to bring in Dyson Kinnaman to pinch run. Cope scored off a wild pitch, while Kinnaman scored on a sacrifice fly by Hallada. Consecutive RBI singles from Jalen King and Adam Hanan made it 9-4. The bases loaded again brought the order around for Cope who was hit by the pitch for the 10th run. Cole Krepcik scored the 11th after receiving home on a balk. Then an error in left field scored two more runs as the Evangels led 13-4.
  • The Saints tacked on a run in both the eighth and the ninth, but their comeback efforts would end there as MACU took control of it late to win 13-6.
GAME NOTES
  • MACU scored 13 runs on just nine hits, it's highest run count on fewest hits so far this season. Randall outhit MACU with 11 hits, but just six runs while conceding three errors to the Evangels' zero.  
  • In a designated bullpen game, the Evangels featured seven pitchers as Jayce Moore got the start and went three innings. Moore gave up three earned runs on four hits while striking out a pair of batters. Gabriel Dixon was credited with the win to improve to 3-1 on the season with one inning of work striking out two of the three batters he faced.  
  • Jalen King led offensive duties with a 3-5 afternoon, including two doubles with two runs batted in while scoring a run himself. Elijah Lee also batted in a pair of runs on his triple. Tuane Cope scored a team-high three runs on a 1-3 plate appearance, with one RBI and one base on balls.
  • Mid-America Christian holds a dominant 39-8 all-time record against Randall as the Evangels have now won 16 consecutive over the Saints.  
 
 
UP NEXT
  • Mid-America Christian returns home for Sooner Athletic Conference play with a massive series against Wayland Baptist at the MACU Baseball Field. The games were moved up to Thursday and Friday with first pitch slated for 4 p.m. on Thursday's doubleheader.
