GAME SUMMARY
  • Nelson quickly had base runners in the opening inning with a lead off walk, followed by a single. A double scored the first run, and a home run scored two more for an early 3-0 Lions' lead.
  • The Evangels doubled the Lions run in their first at bat as Sammy Hallada and Jalen King got into scoring position. Frankie Giacalone laced a double to center field to bring in the runs of Hallada and King. Adam Hanan in the five-hole and playing DH hammered on out of the ballpark to score two more and take a 4-3 lead. MACU wasn't done scoring there as Cole Krepcik was hit by a pitch, then later scored as Jahzeel Groetelaers doubled to left field to get Krepcik home. Elijah Lee's RBI single scored the sixth run in the bottom half of the opening inning.
  • MACU added a seventh in its second go around as King hit a lead off single and swiped a couple bags to get to third. Hanan's sacrifice fly tallied his third RBI as King tagged up and scored from third to lead 7-3.
  • For the second straight inning, the Evangels had the lead off batter reach third base as this time Cole Krepcik walked, stole second, and reached third on a throwing error. Dyson Kinnaman grounded out to the short stop but did enough to credit an RBI to score Krepcik from third.
  • In the top of the fifth, Nelson tied the game at 8-8 as the Lions tacked on two early base runners. A pair of RBI singles scored two runs, while the equalizing eighth run scored on a wild pitch.
  • Kinnaman doubled in the lead off position in the fifth inning, followed by Lee's single for two runners. Sammy Hallada emptied the bases with a three-run homer as MACU snagged an 11-8 lead.
  • Nelson rallied in response with a leadoff triple that scored with the next at bat with an RBI single to right field. However, the Lions left the tying runners on base to remain trailing 11-9.
  • The Evangels scored two more insurance runs in the eighth as the Lions committed multiple errors to advance runners in scoring position and to score the 12th run. While Krepcik singled to right field as Tuane Cope scored from third for a 13-9 series closer win.

GAME NOTES
  • MACU posted the second-highest hits of the season with 15 to Nelson's 11. The Evangels won the error differential with just one as the Lions committed three errors. Although MACU scored 15 runs, the Evangels still left seven runners stranded on base.
  • Ryan Smith came in relief and recorded his second win of the season pitching one inning with a strikeout, while conceding just one earned run on one hit.
  • The Evangels' bats were red hot all afternoon as four MACU batters had multiple hits led by Elijah Lee with three hits of four at bats including a double. Adam Hanan went 2-4 with a team-high three RBIs and a home run. Frankie Giacalone and Jalen King both contributed two hits. Both Giacalone's hits resulted in extra bags. While Sammy Hallada's only hit of the afternoon resulted in a three-run bomb.
