GAME SUMMARY
  • Mid-America Christian put together the first dangerous scoring chance in the top of the first when Serena Rodriguez reached on a fielding error by the shortstop before stealing second and getting down to third on a wild pitch with only one out. However, OCU starting pitcher Brynlee Alsip got out of the jam by striking out the next batter and inducing a flyout to right to keep the runner at third.
  • The Stars immediately put the wheels in-motion in their half of the first when the first two batters reached on a single and a hit-by-pitch before Tara Hoehner's sac bunt moved the runners over with Analise Rayburn's sac fly and Kaiden Spidell's RBI single up the middle making it a 2-0 OCU advantage.
  • The Evangels once again put together a strong scoring threat in the third when Jorjanna King led off the frame with double to center that got past the diving Carlee Mollet, but the next three MACU batters were retired in-order to hold King at second.
  • OCU threatened to put together a monster inning in the bottom of the fourth when Spidell started it with a leadoff triple followed by Gabby Moreno lining an RBI double to center before Jessica Phares' sac bunt moved the runner to third. However, MACU limited the damage to only one run when Rodriguez made a sensational diving grab in left field and it doubled off the runner at third when Moreno was called out for leaving the base too early on the tag-up, keeping it to a 3-0 game.
  • The Stars took advantage of a pair of two-out miscues by the Evangels, as a pair of throwing error on runners trying to steal second allowed Ashford to score, wrapping up the scoring at 4-0.
  • The Evangels had one last chance to score a run in the top of the sixth when Taylor Martinez got on from a one-out single up the middle and got to third on Mia Macias' single dropped down the right field line with two outs. However, MACU was unable to bring the run across.
GAME NOTES
  • Oklahoma City scored its four runs on seven hits and committed on error while the Evangels mustered four hits and made two defensive miscues.
  • Jorjanna King corralled MACU's only extra-base hit of the day, finishing 1-for-2 with a double from the dish.
  • Mia Macias was responsible for half of the Evangels' hits, finishing 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
  • Taylor Martinez recorded the only other hit, finishing 1-for-3 in the contest.
  • Nyssa Dunn held the NAIA's top hitting team to its second-lowest run total in Sooner Athletic Conference play, allowing only four runs, only three earned on seven hits while issuing only one walk and striking out a batter.
  • With the win, the Stars captured the season series.

GAME SUMMARY
  • Once again, Oklahoma City took advantage of the first two batters reaching on back-to-back singles to start out the bottom of the first as a sac bunt and an error on a fielder's choice toss to home allowed two runs to score, giving the Stars the 2-0 advantage in the bottom of the first.
  • The Stars blew the game wide open in the second inning, scoring four runs on two hits with a hit-by-pitch and an error extending the OCU edge to 6-0.
  • Mid-America Christian's best opportunity to score a run came in the top of the fifth when Dakota Watson beat out an infield single to short and stole second before trying to score on Kiley Flores' single to center, but was unfortunately thrown out trying to score to keep it a six-run game.
  • The Stars scored the last run of the game in the bottom of the fifth when Analise Rayburn led off with a triple down the right field line before scoring on Kaiden Spidell's RBI single, but that was the only run that MACU reliever Emmerson Dickinson allowed in the contest.
GAME NOTES
  • Oklahoma City scored its seven runs on nine hits while the Evangels finished with four hits with three errors.
  • Four different Evangels came up with their hits as Dakota Watson and Kiley Flores each finished 1-for-2 while Watson notched MACU's lone stolen base.
  • Kayten Herman and Heidi Noisey each wrapped up the day 1-for-3 from the dish.
  • Emmerson Dickinson tossed four strong innings of relief, allowing only one earned run on five hits with a walk over four innings of work.
  • Even though MACU was swept in all four games in the series, one bright spot for the Evangels was they were the only team in SAC play that the Stars did not run rule in a single game while OCU has notched at least two run rule wins in each of its first six league series.
UP NEXT
  • Mid-America Christian will return home for its final home games of the season next weekend as the Evangels host Oklahoma Panhandle State for a four-game set. The Evangels will open the set with a doubleheader on Friday slated for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
