  • The Evangels looked to tack on a few more in the second with consecutive singles to lead off by Frankie Giacalone and Tuane Cope. Runners advanced to second and third. However, MACU's next two batters were unable to score the runs in scoring position and its lead stayed at 1-0.
  • The Pioneers took their first lead of the series in the top half of the fifth from a leadoff home run to level it at 1-1. Wayland scored a second after a walk and a single advanced the runners to the corners. An RBI single scored the run from third, but MACU turned a double play to end the inning and conceded just two runs.
  • WBU didn't have the lead long as MACU put up a five spot in the bottom of the fifth inning. The bases loaded as Hallada, King, and Hill were all walked. Hanan's RBI single up the middle scored the tying run. Then Cole Krepcik ripped a two-RBI single through the right side to score Hill and King and lead 4-2. Frankie Giacalone walked to quickly load the bases back up. Tuane Cope drew an eight-pitch walk and earned an RBI as Hanan reached home. Ned Ceklic pinch hitting forced the sacrifice fly out to score Krepcik and take a commanding 6-2 advantage.
  • The Pioneers cut the lead in half in the sixth as a double got a runner into scoring position. Followed by an RBI single through the right side to score the run from second base. However, the Evangels got the second and third out and left two WBU runners on base.
  • In the top of the seventh, Wayland Baptist cut the lead down to one run with a leadoff single and a two-run home run over the right field fence as the lead trimmed down to 6-5. However, Andrws Acosta took over mound duties and retired the next three batters to hold onto the one run lead.
