GAME SUMMARY
- Mid-America Christian immediately captured the lead in its half of the first inning. After Serena Rodriguez opened the contest on a four-pitch walk before Taylor Martinez's single through the left side and advancement to second on the throw trying to get Rodriguez out at third, Heidi Noisey blasted a deep flyball double that bounced off the center field wall to score the first two runs and make it a 2-0 game.
- While Nelson took advantage of a three-base error in right to allow one run to score follow Marcella Bryan's RBI single and Haley Ehlert's single down the left field line to put runners at first and second with no out, the Evangels made history. On Juli King's bunt attempt, Jorji King snared the fouled bunt just before it hit the ground, snapped a throw to first before Noisey relayed the throw down to Saina Willis at second to complete the 2-3-4 triple play to end the inning.
- MACU carried the momentum into its half of the second as it put up a five-run frame. The Evangels opened it with a single up the middle before getting down to third on Madison Schroeder's single through the right side. Kiley Flores drove in the first run on her muffed ground ball by the shortstop before pushing across another run and a groundball error by the second baseman, scoring Schroeder and making it a 4-1 game.
- Taylor Martinez followed suit by scoring two more runs on her hammered two-RBI double to right before scoring two batters later on Mia Macias's groundball single through the left side to wrap-up the scoring in the second at 7-1.
- MACU had another chance to add another run in the third when Willis started the frame with a single to center, stole second, and got down to third on Flores' flyball out down the right field line with two outs before Serena Rodriguez drew a walk and stole second. However, the Lions got out of it when Nelson's shortstop made a solid running grab on Martinez's Texas Leaguer shallow flyout to left to keep it a six-run contest.
- The Lions made a comeback in the top of the fourth, scoring four runs on two hits, two walks, and a hit-by-pitch as Trista Ford's two-RBI single to left-center with two outs closed it to a 7-5 game.
- The Evangels added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth behind a two-out rally. After Willis reached on a one-out hit-by-pitch and Flores dropped a two-out single into right-center before Rodriguez smashed an RBI double to left-center to wrap-up the scoring at 8-5.
GAME NOTES
- Mid-America Christian scored its eight runs on 11 hits with a pair of errors while the Lions scored their five runs on eight hits with two miscues as well.
- Of MACU's 11 hits, the trio of Taylor Martinez, Heidi Noisey, and Saina Willis each finished with a pair of base knocks.
- Martinez continued to swing MACU's hottest bat, slashing 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and a pair of runs scored.
- Noisey continued to add to her team-leading RBI total after batting 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of runs driven in.
- On-top of recording a pair of hits, Willis was one of three Evangels to score two runs as well after slashing 2-for-3 and reached base three times with a hit-by-pitch and a stolen base.
- Serena Rodriguez joined Willis in reaching base three times and scoring twice, batting 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and drew a pair of walks while stealing a base.
- After Nyssa Dunn tossed 3.2 innings in her start, Gia Reynosa entered in the fourth and got the win after throwing 3.1 innings of stellar relief, allowing only four hits and no walks while striking out five.
- By getting the victory, the Evangels claimed the series, making it the sixth consecutive year MACU won the season series and the 10th time in 13 years they've taken the regular season series from the Lions.

GAME SUMMARY
- Mid-America Christian threatened to put up a monster inning in the bottom of the first when the first three batters reached on Serena Rodriguez's leadoff triple to right-center before Taylor Martinez drew a walk and Emmerson Dickinson beat out an infield single to third. Heidi Noisey brought in the first run on a sac fly to center field before Kayten Herman successfully laid down a safety squeeze bunt single to the pitcher to plate Martinez, making it a 2-0 game.
- Both teams struggled to get runners in scoring position over the next three innings, but the Evangels did take advantage of a Lions miscue to get an insurance run. On Gia Reynosa's bunt single to the pitcher, Valerie Guzman's errant throw to first allowed Reynosa to get all the way to third on the two-base error before Mia Macias brought her in on a sac fly to center to bring to 3-0.
- While the Lions struggled mightily to put runners in scoring position against Emmerson Dickinson, who was cruising through the Nelson lineup, they were finally able to break through in the sixth. Dickinson found herself in some big time trouble after allowing back-to-back infield singles and a walk with no outs. Dickinson managed to keep them off the board on Cadence Hopgood's swinging bunt that didn't get far from home, allowing the catcher in Herman to step on home plate to get the force. However, the Lions scored immediately following as Haley Ehlert was just barely able to beat out a potential 4-6-3 double play, allowing a run to score on the fielder's choice at second.
- Even though Nelson closed the gap, MACU blew the game wide open in its half of the sixth. With Herman on first following a leadoff single with two outs, Macias put a pair in scoring position on her single to left and making the heads up break to second when the throw tried to get Herman running to third. Madison Schroeder then lined a two-RBI single to center, bringing in Herman and Macias with the latter scoring when the one-hop throw to the catcher popped out of the glove. In the very next at-bat, Rodriguez launched a deep flyball to right-center field that just wall scraped over the wall for a two-run homer, closing out the scoring at 7-1.
- Entering the seventh with nine strikeouts, Dickinson managed to work around a one-out single and a two-out walk as she struck out three batters in the frame to wrap-up the 7-1 final.
GAME NOTES
- Mid-America Christian scored its seven runs on 11 hits while the Lions notched their lone run on seven hits with one error.
- With her dominant pitching performance, Emmerson Dickinson became only the seventh Evangel to notch 12 strikeouts in a game in the NAIA Era (2007-present), moving into a six-way tie for the second-most strikeouts. Overall, Dickinson improved to 9-7 in the circle after allowing only seven singles and two walks over seven innings of work.
- Serena Rodriguez and Madison Schroeder led the MACU batting efforts with each tallying two hits and two RBIs. Rodriguez wrapped up her day batting 2-for-4 with a triple, a homer, and two runs while Schroeder slashed 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.
- Kayten Herman also turned in a two-hit day, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.
- Taylor Martinez closed out her red-hot hitting weekend with a 1-for-3 performance at the plate, scoring a run and drawing a walk to go with a pair of stolen bags.
- Mia Macias also notched an RBI and a run to her stat line, finishing 1-for-2 in the finale.
- With the victory, MACU swept the regular season series against Nelson, making it the first four-game regular season sweep over the Lions since the 2016 season while improving to 44-14 against Nelson since 2013.
- The Evangels are currently on an 11-game win streak and sit third in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings at the conclusion of this week's league games.
UP NEXT
- Mid-America Christian will now face its toughest test of the regular season next week as the Evangels prepare to head uptown to face SAC leader No. 2 Oklahoma City in a four-game set. That series will start on Friday with the first game of the doubleheader slated for 2 p.m. at Ann Lacy Stadium.
