10/30/07 - BARTLESVILLE, Okla- Jessica Chestnut broke the single match record for kills Tuesday, Oct 30 when she dropped 24 kills on the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Lady Eagles. The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels beat the Lady Eagles in four games.
"Jessica played incredible," Head Coach Samantha Lindsey said. "She was focused and hit the ball well."
The Lady Evangels had no trouble against the Lady Eagles in the first two games, defeating them 30-21 and 30-22.
OWU responded with a 30-19 win in the third game, but that would be the only game the Lady Eagles would win. MACU went on to beat OWU easily in the fourth game, 30-21.
"It was like there were two different teams for the third and fourth game," Coach Lindsey said. "I am proud of how the girls responded."
Chestnut added four blocks and eight digs to go along with her 24 kills.
Emily Moore had a good game with 26 assists, 13 digs, seven kills, and two blocks. Meagan Davis contributed a game high 22 digs in the win. Jocelyn Mehlhaff had 11 kills, while Jennifer Roselius had seven kills.
The Lady Evangels improve to 10-16, and remain 3-7 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
MACU will host John Brown University Monday, Nov. 5 at 7:00.
