Wichita, Kan. -- The Mid-America Christian Lady Evangels staged two rallies but fell in a pair of five-set non-conference outings Saturday (Oct. 9) at Friends University in Wichita, Kan.
The Lady Evangels (9-16, 1-6 SAC) kicked off the day by facing the Tabor College Bluejays for the second time this season. MACU won the first matchup of the season but Tabor won the rematch in five sets.
MACU dropped the first two sets, but responded by winning the next two 25-21 and 25-17 to square the match. But the Bluejays took the deciding fifth set in close fashion, 18-16.
The Lady Evangels then faced host Friends University in the nightcap. Just like the first match, the Lady Evangels found themselves down 2-0.
Once again, the Lady Evangels found a way to rally by winning the third and fourth sets by scores of 31-29 and 25-23.
However, the fifth set went to Friends 15-11 to close out the Lady Evangels' comeback bid.
The Lady Evangels will now jump back into conference action by hosting Southwestern Oklahoma on Monday night (Oct. 11) at 7 p.m. in the Gaulke Activity Center.
