Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Moments after defeating Southwestern Assemblies of God in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) third-place game, it was announced that three Mid-America Christian Lady Evangels were NCCAA All-Central Region selections. The MACU honorees are senior Cris Smith (Sao Paulo Brazil), sophomore Calle Solie (Glendale, Ariz.) and freshman Shelbi Johnson (Bentonville, Ark.)
The All-Region trio's effect on the Lady Evangels was never more evident than in the 3-0 victory over the SAGU Lady Lions in the regional consolation match.
Smith contributed 20 kills and 10 digs, Solie had a team-high 43 assists and Johnson recorded 19 digs.
All three players have also been major factors in the Sooner Athletic Conference this season as well.
Smith finished the regular season ranked second in the conference in kills, third in kills per set and third in hitting percentage.
But Smith's contributions didn't stop on the offensive side, as she was also tied for second in the SAC in blocks, fourth in blocks per set and 11th in digs.
Solie was rock-solid all season as the primary setter for the Lady Evangels, winding up second in the conference in assists, fourth in assists per set, while also ranking 20th in digs.
Johnson performed at a high level as the libero this year, finishing second in the SAC in digs and digs per set.
