OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels have been chosen sixth in the Sooner Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll.

Two-time defending regular season champions Oklahoma Baptist University has been picked to make it three straight league titles by picking up five first-place votes to come in ahead of Lubbock Christian University, who received the other two first-place tallies.

LCU was followed by Wayland Baptist University, John Brown University and Oklahoma City University in the top five.

The Lady Evangels finished one spot ahead of St. Gregory's University to round out the poll.

MACU, in its second year under head coach Craig Ruiz, should benefit from the return of a trio of senior all-conference selections in Calle Solie, Becca Anderson and Taryn Walker.

The 2012 season opener for the Lady Evangels is set for Aug. 23 at home against Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
