OKLAHOMA CITY -- Mid-America Christian University volleyball head coach Mike Freeman has announced the addition of Melissa Hoppal to the program for the upcoming 2014 season.

Hoppal, a native of Phoenix, Ariz., competed for the North Canyon High School Rattlers and earned the 2013 Varsity Coaches' Award Player of the Year.

She was also named a team captain and was named the 2010 Sparkplug Award winner.

"Melissa comes from a tough high school conference so she has played against some of the best volleyball players in that area," Freeman said.

"She has played club volleyball for seven years and the past couple of years for the AZ. Desert Sky. She has also played in open divisions at many tournaments and her skills are going to be a huge asset for our program."

"Melissa is coming to get a degree in Social Work and we welcome her with open arms as she is now part of our school and our volleyball program."

She is the daughter of Pam and Greg Hoppal and will major in Behavioral Science at MACU.
