OKLAHOMA CITY -- Mid-America Christian University junior OPP Shannon Niemeier has been selected as the Sooner Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced today (Sept. 29).

Niemeier averaged 15.5 kills in the Lady Evangels' two matches this past week, including a team-best 23 kills in a close 3-2 loss at Oklahoma City University last Thursday (Sept. 26). She also had 11 digs at OCU.

The Carlsbad, N.M. native's 23 kills are only four shy of the school single-game record, set by Cris Smith back in 2010.

Niemeier and the Lady Evangels will next host Southwestern Assemblies of God University Friday night (Oct. 3) at 7 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
