OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels have qualified for the Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball postseason tournament for the first time since the 2007 season as the seventh seed and will play Saturday morning (Nov. 7) at 11 a.m. at second-seeded Oklahoma City University.
The Lady Evangels dropped both matches against OCU this season, with the last one being a 3-2 nail-biter that saw MACU win the first two sets and OCU rally back to capture the next three frames to slip by with the win.
The winner of the MACU/OCU quarterfinal match will face the winner between No. 5 seed Southwestern Assemblies of God University and No. 4 seed John Brown University on Wednesday (Nov. 11) at the site of the highest remaining seed.
The tournament championship match will take place on Saturday (Nov. 14), also at the highest seed.
The other two quarterfinal matches feature (8) St. Gregory's University at (1) Wayland Baptist University and (6) Southwestern Christian University at (3) Texas Wesleyan University.
The Lady Evangels, 15-12 on the season under third-year head coach Mike Freeman, are led in kills by Laurel Church (213), assists by Hannah Luedtke (770) and digs by Camera Broadnax (392).
