Volleyball Signs Laurel Church for Next Season

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University volleyball program has added Laurel Church for the 2015 season.

Prior to coming to MACU, Church saw action in four games last season for fellow Sooner Athletic Conference member Oklahoma Baptist University.  She recorded six kills in her four appearances for OBU.

Church, a native of Moore, Okla., prepped four seasons for the Community Christian School Royals.

At Community Christian, Church was a three-time all-conference selection and earned second-team all-conference honors for the 2010 season.

Church was also a two-time all-state performer and was selected to five all-tournament squads, including the Best of the West All-Tournament team in 2013.

Off the court, Church was a member of the National Honor Society for three years and was the Salutatorian of her graduating class.

"Laurel comes to us as a transfer student," Mike Freeman, MACU volleyball head coach said.

"Her skills at the net will be a huge boost for us and her size and mobility will be a much needed addition to our team. I've had the opportunity for a few years to watch her develop into a very strong player. Our play at the net just got a whole lot stronger."

She is the daughter of Tina and Phillip Church and is currently undecided on a major at MACU.
