GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian managed to out-hit Southwestern Christian as the Evangels scored their eight runs on 14 hits while the Eagles tallied their 11 runs on nine hits.
  • The Evangels pitching staff as a whole struggled with its command, tying a season-high 11 walks, matching its previous high recorded in a 15-8 loss to Tabor (Kan.) at Dallas Christian on Mar. 20.
  • Yan Ely Adames joined an exclusive club with his 12th home run of the season on his solo blast in the fifth inning. Adames joins Jerry McNew and Adrian Bravo-Carmona, who were the only two MACU players to ever reach 12 homers in a season since the team joined the NAIA and SAC in 2008. McNew recorded a pair of 12-homer seasons in 2016 and 2017 while Bravo-Carmona notched a 12 home run season in 2011 after his program-record 14 homer season in 2010.
  • Adames also finished with a pair of RBIs to finish with 55 on the season, marking the third-most in the NAIA era, sitting only behind McNew (63, 2017) and James Frederick (59, 2010) for the most driven-in during one season.
  • In his final career start, Arcangel Soto closed out his MACU career with the program's third-most shutouts (2), fourth-most strikeouts (153), fifth-most starts (23) and seventh-most complete games (5). Soto was not issued a decision after allowing five earned runs on two hits, six walks and three strikeouts through 3.1 innings of work.
  • Despite suffering the loss, Bernardo Moreno wrapped up his MACU career with the team's second-most saves (5), sixth-fewest hits allowed (71), ninth-fewest earned runs allowed (51), 10th-most strikeouts (94) and 10th-most games pitched (35).
  • By finishing the season with a 24-26 (.480) record, the Evangels posted their second-best winning percentage in a year since 2008, sitting only behind last season's COVID-19 shortened campaign (21-10, .677).
