OKLAHOMA CITY – Mid-America Christian University Athletics had one of its most successful years academically as the Evangels landed a program-record 114 student-athletes between its seven varsity sports on the Sooner Athletic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll on Wednesday.

Overall, there were more than 1,500 student-athletes that found themselves on the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll between the league's 11 full-time members and five part-time members and MACU was one of eight institutions with more than 100 recipients.

To be eligible for the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be deemed eligible to compete by the NAIA, maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point-average while being enrolled for the full academic year (fall 2021 and spring 2022).

Six of MACU's seven varsity sports placed 10 or more student-athletes on the esteemed list, as the baseball and softball programs led the way with 27 honorees apiece. Men's soccer lauded 21 recipients while women's soccer earned 13 awards, volleyball and women's basketball placed 10 apiece and the men's basketball program totaled six honorees.

It is the third straight year that the Evangels turned in more than 100 league honorees after finishing with 101 recipients following the 2020-21 season and 106 after the 2019-20 campaign.
