GAME NOTES
  • The Evangels scored their four runs on seven hits while the Tigers finished with six runs on eight hits and made two miscues.
  • MACU found itself down in a hole early when Central Christian pushed across six runs in the first two innings, three in each frame to take a 6-0 lead.
  • After Rachel Humburg drew a one-out walk in the top of the fourth, pinch-hitter Hallie Reed jolted some energy in the Evangels bats by blasting her first career home run over the right field wall to cut the deficit to 6-2.
  • Later in the inning, the Evangels trimmed the deficit in half when Hannah Robbins and Mikaylee Allen ripped back-to-back doubles to make it a 6-3 game.
  • The Evangels mustered a major threat in the top of the sixth by loading the bases on a pair of walks and an error, but MACU came up empty Kenzee Danielson grounded into a fielder's choice to end the inning.
  • In the top of the seventh, the first two Evangels batters went down on pop outs, but MACU did not go down without a fight as Macy Stockton and Hallie Wilson reached on back-to-back walks before Abby Womack drove in a single to right-center to cut the deficit to 6-4 and put the tying run on first.
  • Unfortunately, MACU was unable to complete the comeback as Sarah Lynch put Robbins down on strikes to end the game.
  • The defeat to the Tigers snapped MACU's 14-game win streak over Central Christian as well as interrupted the Evangels' five-game run during the week.
  • Hallie Wilson was highly productive off the MACU bench, reaching base three times by going 1-for-1 with her two-run homer as well as drew a pair of walks while scoring a run.
  • Abby Womack was the only MACU bat to record multiple hits, slashing 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
  • Avery Schneringer suffered the loss in the circle, allowing six earned runs on seven hits with no walks and a strikeout over 1.2 innings of work.
  • Despite MACU's rough start, the Evangels were able to keep within striking distance due to the strong relief appearance from Harley Beesley. Over 4.1 innings, Beesley did not give up a single run and allowed just one hit with a pair of walks and two strikeouts.
UP NEXT
  • Mid-America Christian will close out its six-game road stand on Tuesday as the Evangels will close out its season-series with No. 9 Science & Arts. The Evangels will open the twin-bill with a 5 p.m. first pitch at Bill Smith Ballpark.
