Stanek Selected as 2022-23 SAC Sports Information Director of the Year

OKLAHOMA CITY – For the second time in three years, Mid-America Christian University Sports Information Director Adam Stanek has been selected as the Sooner Athletic Conference SID of the Year for 2022-23.

An accolade that began with the 2013-14 athletic season, Stanek is receiving the league's 10th SID of the Year honor. The award is voted upon by the head athletic communications specialists from each of the conference's 12 full-time member institutions.

In his fourth year with MACU, Stanek garnered the SAC SID of the Year accolade for the second time after becoming MACU's first ever recipient following the 2020-21 academic year. In the 10 years the award has been presented, Stanek is the first SID in the league to be named a two-time honoree.

"I'd like to thank my colleagues from within the league for selecting me for the SAC SID of the Year award," said Stanek. "Over the last four years, it has been an honor and a privilege to not only work alongside this great group of sports information professionals, but also get the chance to learn from and build great friendships with my colleagues. I could not ask to work alongside a better group of guys and I look forward to working with our league SIDs in the years to come."

As MACU's Sports Information Director, Stanek is responsible for multiple duties within the MACU Athletic Department, including: managing the MACU Athletics website and social media accounts, reporting official stats to the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC), National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), writing press releases for MACU Athletics, the Sooner Athletic Conference and the Mid-American, award nominations, managing athletic streaming services, program designs, media requests and event planning, to name a few.

Stanek has also served a vital role in the coordination of the NCCAA All-Central Region Team announcements for men's soccer, women's basketball and softball, working directly with the Regional Coordinators in each sport with the nomination process, receiving votes, vote tabulations and disseminating the results to the public.

Over the course of the season, Stanek was heavily involved with the planning and implementation of multiple championship events hosted by MACU, including the SAC Men's Soccer Tournament Championship, the NAIA Men's Soccer Tournament Opening Round and the SAC Men's & Women's Basketball Championships.

"Adam works incredibly hard to tell the story of MACU Athletics," said MACU Athletic Director Marcus Moeller. "He also serves the conference and our national associations with diligence and integrity. This recognition is so incredibly well deserved and I could not be happier for him that his peers see him in the same light that we do."

Stanek also served as the official statistician and public address announcer for the SAC Softball Tournament Championship hosted by Oklahoma City University and was also one of the official statisticians at the Hosea Bell Red Dirt Softball Classic hosted by Langston at the USA Softball Hall of Fame in the spring.

On top of his stating duties, Stanek performs duties as an on-air talent for the Evangels on the SAC Sports Network, serving as the play-by-play broadcaster for MACU volleyball as well as a fill-in broadcaster for MACU's other six varsity sports. In his capacity, Stanek has performed public address duties for men's and women's soccer, baseball and softball.

Overall, Stanek has completed his fourth year as MACU's SID and has worked in the collegiate athletics industry for 18 years as a blogger, broadcaster, journalist, podcaster and sports information specialist. Stanek got his start covering collegiate athletics as an on-air talent for 89.5 KQAL, covering football, men's and women's basketball and baseball for Winona State University (Minn.) in 2005.
