Reese Cusiter Selected as MACU's Assistant Sports Information Director

OKLAHOMA CITY – MACU Athletics will see a familiar face join its sports information staff for 2024-25 as Reese Cusiter makes his return to MACU to become its new Assistant Sports Information Director.

Joining a sports information staff that consists of Sports Information Director Adam Stanek and Video Coordinator/Sports Information Graduate Assistant Dante Luz, Cusiter will provide a vital role in the expanded coverage of MACU Athletics.

"I am extremely grateful and excited for this opportunity as the Assistant Sports Information Director," Cusiter remarked. "MACU's athletic programs are so talented on-and-off the field and it will be a pleasure to contribute to their coverage this year."

Currently pursuing his Master's of Leadership from MACU, Cusiter makes his return to the sports information staff after working within the department as an intern and broadcaster. In his new role, Cusiter will serve as the official sports contact for volleyball, men's basketball and baseball while writing press releases, handling official stating duties, contributing graphic and video content for the MACU Athletics social media platforms as well as perform some broadcasting duties, to name a few.

"After performing a nationwide search for our first assistant SID, I am proud to say Reese was easily one of the most impressive candidates and I am thrilled that he will be joining my staff for the upcoming year," stated Stanek. "I've had the opportunity to work alongside Reese for the last three years and I have to say that he is a perfect fit for this role. I've always been impressed with Reese's passion, drive and willingness to take on new challenges and learn new skills. He has the perfect mentality for this industry and I believe he will fit in flawlessly within our MACU Family."

On-top of previously working within MACU's sports information office, Cusiter also competed with the MACU baseball program for three seasons. Between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, the NAIA, NCCAA and SAC Scholar-Athlete appeared in 24 games and threw 27.2 innings before missing the 2024 campaign due to injury. However, during that year, Cusiter managed the MACU baseball social media accounts in a season where the Evangels received elevated national attention due to finishing as the No. 11 team in the NAIA while winning both the Sooner Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships.

In his first year at MACU during the fall of 2021, Cusiter got his start in the industry by performing an internship with the sports information department. In his role, Cusiter handled duties which included performing website maintenance for macuathletics.com, wrote student-athlete bios, performed statistician duties and handled livestream operations as well as performed other duties as assigned.

During the 2022-23 athletic year, Cusiter became a voice for MACU Athletics' livestreams as he served as the color commentator for men's and women's basketball over the next two years as well as became the play-by-play commentator for MACU baseball during the 2024 season.

Over the past summer, Cusiter performed an internship with the Oklahoma City Baseball Club, the Los Angeles Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate where he assisted with partnerships, game day event staff and broadcast production.

Before coming to MACU, Cusiter worked as a contributor to Diamond Digest as a Los Angeles Angels reporter from November 2019 to March 2020, covering the Angels off-season transactions and upcoming season predictions.

Cusiter will begin his new role with MACU Athletics on Monday, July 29.
