Annika Gerdau Joins MACU Athletics Staff as Video Coordinator/Sports Information Graduate Assistant

OKLAHOMA CITY – Mid-America Christian women's soccer graduate student forward Annika Gerdau is yet another current or former MACU student-athlete to successfully become a member of the Evangels' sports information staff as she will assume the role of Sports Information/Video Coordinator Graduate Assistant for the 2024-25 academic year.

In her position, Gerdau will be primarily responsible for the MACU Athletics livestream operations and video production as well as assume some sports information related duties as assigned.

"I am very grateful to have been blessed with this position as the graduate assistant and have the opportunity to professionally develop myself even further," said Gerdau. "I'm looking forward to watching and supporting our athletes and being a part of their paths to success."

A role that was established in 2021, Gerdau is the third current or former MACU student-athlete to step into the position. Gerdau is also no stranger to the MACU sports information staff as she did also serve as a student-worker within the department during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years. Her primary duties included serving as the camera operator for home athletic event livestreams as well as at times served as the technical director for the livestreams.

"I am ecstatic to have Annika join my staff for the 2024-25 season," stated MACU Sports Information Director Adam Stanek. "Since she joined my student-worker staff back in 2022, Annika has been one of the most dependable and knowledgeable students that has ever worked for me and I firmly believe she is a perfect fit for this GA role."

Gerdau has been a household name within the MACU Athletic Department the last three years as she has been a star player for the women's soccer program. In her third season with the program, she has netted 11 goals and dished out 12 assists for 34 points while also being named an NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete the last two years.

Alongside Stanek, Gerdau will immediately join the sports information staff and along with Assistant Sports Information Director Reese Cusiter, who became MACU's first ever assistant SID in August.
