GREENVILLE, S.C. – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced its Division I Men's Basketball All-Americans on Thursday morning as senior guard Josiah Fulcher from the MACU Men's Basketball program was named to the Second Team.
In his lone season with the Evangels, Fulcher played a massive impact on the team that wrapped up the year with a 22-9 overall record and a 17-7 mark in Sooner Athletic Conference play, finishing in a tie for second in the league standings.
The Lima, Ohio native led MACU on the offensive end, scoring a team-high 491 points (15.8 ppg) while shooting 48.1 percent from the field, including 35.2 percent from behind the three-point arc and his 187 made field goals are the 10th-most for a single player since the program joined the NAIA/NCCAA D-I level in 2007.
Fulcher also notched the third-best free throw percentage for a player in that same time frame at 84.1 percent (74-of-88), finishing only behind Tyron Goldsmith (85.9, 2008-09) and teammate Juwan White (84.3, 118-140).
On top of his offensive game, Fulcher was a phenom in the floor game as he led the Evangels on the glass with 175 boards (5.6 rpg), tallied the second-most assists (78, 2.5 apg) and the second-most steals (1.2 spg).
Fulcher was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 13 when he pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds in a 71-67 win over then SAC leader Wayland Baptist on Jan. 11 after recording two blocked shots and three steals in the previous game against Oklahoma Panhandle State on Jan. 9.
Despite suffering an overtime loss at Central Christian on Feb. 10, Fulcher not only matched his career-best 12 rebounds with also a career-high scoring output with 29 points on 12-of-23 shooting, including going 3-for-6 from three-point range.
Fulcher is the first player from MACU to earn an NCCAA All-America nod since Isaiah Hammons was selected as a Second Team honoree at the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign and the eighth since moving to the D-I level in 2007.
