MACU Esports Reaches 200 Wins in Competition

OKLAHOMA CITY - The MACU Esports Overwatch 2 team battled back from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Florida Tech by a score of 3-1 on Monday night to claim the program's 200th all-time win in competition.

The Esports program was created in 2020 and the success has been flowing since then under Head Coach and Director Daniel Peaslee who commented: "God is doing amazing things" stated Peaslee. "The talent, dedication, and drive of our esports athletes are unmatched, and I am so blessed to be a part of these students' lives, getting to share every victory and learning moment in and out of each of our games. These past 200 wins have been incredible, and I know the next 200 are going to be just as sweet. All glory to God for the great things He is doing.".

Winning their first NACE Starleague Varsity Plus East 6 Conference and Divisional Championship in the Spring of 2023, it was only fitting for the Overwatch 2 squad, one of MACU's most successful programs to deliver MACU'S 200th victory on a platter.

The following year, the Evangels went on a five-game win streak to then obliterate West Texas A&M 3-0 in the Championship game and earn their second NACE Starleague Varsity Plus West-Central 2 Divisional and Conference Championship in the Spring of 2024. Most recently, the Overwatch squad went on with an even more dominant journey, finishing with an 8-1 overall record, shining throughout the Spring of 2025 to claim its third NACE Varsity Plus East 6 Conference title after a 3-0 win over Manchester (Ind.).

League of Legends was one of the first programs to ever win a trophy as it took the Fall 2022 NECC Navigators South Season Championship. The development and devotion of this team has been amazing throughout the years. With ups and downs, the players on the rift have kept their head up and will, in the future, rise and shine at the highest level.

The Rocket League team is by far the most decorated of all of MACU's Esports programs. The Evangels honors include: Fall 2022 OACE State Champions, Fall 2022 NECC Emergents Central Tournament Champions, Fall 2022 NECC Emergents Central Season Champions, Fall 2022 NACE Starleague Varsity Plus East 3 Divisional Champions, Fall 2023 NACE Starleague Varsity Plus East 6 Season Champions,  Fall 2023 NACE Starleague Varsity Plus East 6 Divisional Champions, Fall 2024 NACE Varsity Plus East 4 Season Champions, Fall 2024 NACE Varsity Plus East 4 Divisional Champions, and the Spring 2025 NACE Varsity Plus East 4 Season Champions.

The list is long, and the Rocket League roster will look to keep adding on trophies, memories, and victories as long as MACU stands and the players keep showing their amazing skills and commitment.

Super Smash Bros. and Valorant remain without a trophy but their exemplary attitude and hard labor will end up paying off. Those two teams participated and earned the right to claim this milestone as well. Numerous victories and achievements are yet to come for them as they are competing and practicing every day to reach excellence and one day, bring a trophy home. The Valorant program is in just its second year as a program and despite taking the fall off, the team is coming off a strong spring where it came up just short in the NACE Varsity Plus East 7 Championship match, finishing with a 6-2 overall record and a 5-1 mark in Conference play.

Mid-America Christian is currently in the midst of its 2025 Fall season and will wrap-up the first half of the fall campaign this week.
