OKLAHOMA CITY - The MACU Esports programs wrapped up a successful Spring 2026 regular season, with the League of Legends and Valorant teams capturing NACE Varsity Plus Division Championships. Under the leadership of head coach Daniel Peaslee, the two regular season titles, making it the 13th MACU has won since 2022.
League of Legends
The League of Legends squad stormed back into dominance this spring, completing a perfect 4-0 regular season and capturing the Varsity Plus 3A Division regular season title. After a challenging fall split, the Evangels returned with renewed focus and cohesion, proving they are once again a force to be reckoned with.
Led by Alanna Winston (Airyn), Enzo Nogue (Entzuo), Angel Hernandez (Keru), Jadon Maxwell (Brainz), and James Orquiz (ExiledMex), the team displayed synergy and control in every match. Their ability to dictate tempo, execute clean team fights, and close out games with precision turned each contest into a statement victory. What once looked like a rebuilding phase has now transformed into a championship-caliber run.
The Evangels earned the top seed in the Group C bracket and will play No. 8 seed Manchester (Ind.) on Tuesday, Apr. 14 at 7:30 pm in NACE Quarterfinal.
Valorant
The Valorant team made program history this season, capturing its first-ever regular season title in Varsity Plus 6B Division with an impressive 3-1 record. The Valorant team has shown steady improvement since its first season in the Fall 2024, posting a second-place finish in its division in the Spring 2025 before taking the Fall 2025 campaign off.
With standout performances from Lantis Wolfe (EwMantis), Aaron Dodson (Immortal), Angel Hernandez (Keru), Lucas Webb (McFlurried14), Myles Garcia (NoBueno), and Kaleb Rogers (REST316), the team combined sharp aim with disciplined strategy, consistently outmaneuvering opponents in high-pressure situations. Their growth was evident in both communication and composure, turning close rounds into defining victories.
MACU has been selected as the No. 2 seed in the Group F bracket and have received an automatic pass to the NACE Semifinal after getting a NACE Quarterfinal forfeit win over Wittenberg (Ohio). The Evangels will play the winner of No. 3 seed Franklin (Ind.) and No. 6 seed LSU Shreveport in the Semifinal on Apr. 22.
Rocket League
After dominating multiple previous splits, the Rocket League squad remained a top contender, finishing second in the Varsity Plus 2B Spring 2026 division with a 3-2 record. While they narrowly missed out on another title, the Evangels continued to demonstrate the skill and consistency that have defined their legacy.
Behind the efforts of Jadon Maxwell (Brainz), Javier Cerillo (Cl0ver), Mason Kilpatrick (Irish1256), and the newly added Elias Hirt (Eliasona), the team delivered several high-level performances, battling through tight matches and showcasing their trademark chemistry. Even in defeat, the margins were slim, reflecting their ability to compete at the highest level.
Though not their usual spot at the top, the Evangels remain a championship threat, and their experience and talent position them well for a strong postseason run. MACU earned the No. 6 seed in the Group B bracket and will compete against No. 3 seed Western Michigan in the NACE Quarterfinal at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 14.
Overwatch
The Overwatch team concluded the regular season with a 2-3 record, finishing third in Varsity Plus 4A Spring 2026 division. Despite the ups and downs, the Evangels continued to show flashes of brilliance and a strong competitive foundation.
Led by Aaron Dodson (Immortal), Hayden Linville (Golden), Lantis Wolfe (Bug), Jackson Zamora (ClassicJack), and Kaleb Rodgers (REST316), the team demonstrated solid coordination and adaptability, particularly in closely contested matches. Each game provided valuable experience, helping the roster refine its strategies and build stronger in-game synergy.
While the results didn't fully reflect their potential, the Evangels remain optimistic, with clear signs that continued growth and development will lead to greater success in future splits. The Evangels received the No. 5 seed in the Group D bracket and will play No. 4 seed Ohio Christian in the NACE Quarterfinal on Monday, Apr. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Super Smash Bros.
The Super Smash Bros. squad faced a tough spring season, finishing with a 0-4 record and placing last in the Varsity Plus 5A Spring 2026 division. Despite the challenging results, the Evangels showed determination and perseverance throughout the split.
With contributions from Elijah Bates, Jack Search, James Orquiz, Cesar Stokes, Jackson Zamora, Cole Talbot, Michael Spiller, and Zane Foote, the team battled through each matchup with a competitive spirit, often pushing opponents further than the final scores indicated. Their commitment to improvement and willingness to adapt highlight a group focused on long-term growth.
