Sept. 16, 2008

9.16.08 - OKLAHOMA CITY, OK- The Mid-America Christian University women's soccer team could not slow down Oklahoma Baptist University's offense on Tuesday afternoon as the Bison claimed a 5-1 victory.

The Lady Bison came out strong scoring their first goal of the afternoon in the third minute of play when Marinne Burnham scored off of a cross from Kirsten Morrow. In the 14th minute Lin Yan dribbled through the MACU defense and scored an unassisted goal to put OBU a head 2-0.

The Lady Evangels tried to battle their way back into the game in the 33rd minute with a goal scored by Lindsey Neher, assisted by Kayleigh Horsche.

OBU's Mengjun Zang gave the Lady Bison a two-goal lead going into half time when she scored two minutes later.

OBU's fourth goal came off of a penalty kick taken by Zang in the 65th minute.

The fifth and final goal, scored 67 minutes into the game, came after a ball deflected off a MACU player and dropped at the feet of OBU's Yan and she put the ball away. Raven Benson, a freshman, took the loss in goal despite making 10 saves.

On Saturday, September 20, the Lady Evangels welcome Southwestern College for a 1 p.m. contest.
