No. 8 Lady Evangels play OBU to 0-0 tie

Shawnee, Okla. -- The No. 8-ranked (NCCAA) Mid-America Christian Lady Evangels inched closer to hosting their first-ever Sooner Athletic Conference tournament match by playing the Oklahoma Baptist Lady Bison to a double-overtime scoreless tie Saturday afternoon (Oct. 30) in Shawnee, Okla.

As things stand right now, the Lady Evangels are alone in third place in the SAC with a 7-2-1 conference record.  The top four seeds host the quarterfinals and a win over Rogers State in the season finale would clinch at least one home match for MACU.

The goalkeepers were outstanding on both sides, with the Lady Evangels' Melissa Dobie recording 12 saves and Sarah Robinson stopping 10 shots in the net for the Lady Bison.

Neither team was able to crack the scoreboard despite combining for 46 shots overall and 22 shots-on-goal.

Kassie Byrd and Julia Nimal combined for 11 shots to lead MACU (14-2-1, 7-2-1 SAC), while Elisa Brito and Kirsten Betterton also combined for 11 shots for the Lady Bison (8-5-4, 5-2-3 SAC).

The Lady Evangels' matchup with Rogers State on Tuesday is set for 1 p.m.
