Lady Evangels season comes to an end in 2-0 loss to Colorado Christian in NCCAA Central Region Semifinals

McPherson, Kan. -- The Mid-America Christian Lady Evangels' wildly successful season came to an end with a 2-0 defeat to the Colorado Christian Lady Cougars Friday afternoon (Nov. 19) in McPherson, Kan.

The loss marks the first time the Lady Evangels have dropped consecutive games all season.

Kaylan Bearden got the Lady Cougars off and running with a goal just 4:08 into the match off an assist from Addie Ryan for a quick 1-0 lead.

Goalie Liana Signorile then got into the scoring act with a goal in the 41st minute that gave CCU a two-goal lead heading into the half.

That would be all the Lady Cougars would need as they would hold the Lady Evangels off the scoreboard despite being out-shot 17-9 overall and 7-4 on-goal.

Kassie Byrd had a match-high six shots and three shots-on-goal to lead MACU.

Melissa Dobie stopped two shots for the Lady Evangels, while Signorile recorded seven saves for the Lady Cougars.

The match got chippy at times, with a combined four yellow cards being called.

Even with the defeat, the Lady Evangels finish the year with a school-record 16-4-1 overall mark.
