Dobie's 10 saves propel No. 8 Lady Evangels to 2-0 win over Oklahoma Baptist in SAC quarterfinals

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Goalkeeper Melissa Dobie blanked the Oklahoma Baptist Lady Bison with 10 saves, two shy of her season-high, to help the No. 8-ranked (NCCAA) Mid-America Christian Lady Evangels advance to the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals with a 2-0 win over the Oklahoma Baptist Lady Bison on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 6).
The Lady Evangels got on the board early in the first half on a goal from Nicole Farquhar off a corner kick assist by Julia Nimal at the 8:20 mark of the first half.

Kassie Byrd then found a crease in the middle and broke through for a score just eight minutes later for a 2-0 lead.

That's all that MACU would need as Dobie and the Lady Evangels' defense made the two goals stand up the remaining 74 minutes of the contest.

Byrd led the Lady Evangels (16-2-1) with seven shots, while Elisa Brito also tallied seven shot attempts for the Lady Bison (8-7-4).

OBU held a 17-12 edge in shots overall, with a 10-5 advantage in shots-on-goal.

Sarah Robinson made three saves in the net for the Lady Bison.

The Lady Evangels will play at John Brown in the semifinals on Tuesday, with the game time yet to be determined in Siloam Springs, Ark.

JBU slipped by USAO 2-1 in double-overtime earlier today.
