Oklahoma City, Okla. -- The awards just keep coming for Mid-America Christian Lady Evangel goalkeeper Melissa Dobie, who captured her fourth Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor, the league announced today.
Dobie was flawless again this week, recording a combined 14 saves in recording her 10th and 11th shutouts of the season in a 1-0 season-finale win over Rogers State and then a 2-0 victory over Oklahoma Baptist in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals.
In the process, Dobie extended her scoreless streak to a whopping 316 minutes. She has not allowed a goal since the 63rd minute of a 2-1 win at Southern Nazarene back on Oct. 26.
Overall this season, Dobie has a conference-best 0.63 goals-against-average and ranks third in the SAC in both saves (113) and saves per game (5.95).
In addition to the SAC awards, she has also been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Women's Soccer Player of the Week twice this season.
Dobie and the Lady Evangels will look to keep the season rolling as they will play at John Brown tomorrow afternoon (Nov. 9) at 2 p.m. in the semifinals of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament.
