Helping the Mid-America Christian Lady Evangels to their best ever start since joining the NAIA in 2007, Kassie Byrd has been selected as the Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Byrd scored four goals in a pair of victories this past week as the Lady Evangels raced to a 6-0 start this year.
She scored a pair of goals in a 5-0 win at Bacone College, then added two more scores as the Lady Evangels routed Southwestern (Kan.) College 7-0.
Her four goals are already tied for second on the team despite playing in only three games so far this season.
Byrd and the Lady Evangels will now look for their seventh straight win to begin the season when they host McPherson (Kan.) on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 25) at noon.
