Oklahoma City, Okla. --
Julia Nimal scored two goals and
Melissa Dobie notched her conference-leading sixth shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory over the Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps Thursday afternoon (Oct. 13) at Evangel Field.
The victory improves the Lady Evangels to 4-0 at home this season and extends their home match winning streak to 10 dating back to last season.
Nimal scored her first goal off a set piece that sailed right off the goalkeeper's hands and into the net at the 14:37 mark.
She then blasted in a shot from the left side in the 19th minute for a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Evangels (9-2-1, 4-1-1 SAC) added the finishing touches as
Chelsea Swisher dribbled and found a cutting
Kassie Byrd in the box for their third goal with just 1:11 remaining.
Byrd and Nimal each had six shots to lead the Lady Evangels, while Stacy Ann Johnson had a team-high four shots for the Lady Chaps (4-6, 2-3 SAC).
The Lady Chaps actually out-shot the Lady Evangels 17-15 overall, but Dobie was up to the task by recording nine saves to keep LCU off the scoreboard.
The Lady Evangels will again be at home against Wayland Baptist on Saturday morning (Oct. 13) at 11 a.m.
