Bethany, Okla. -- Jackie Acevedo had a hand in three goals to power the No. 23-ranked Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm to a 4-1 win over the Mid-America Christian Lady Evangels in MACU's regular season finale Friday night (Oct. 28) in Bethany, Okla.
Acevedo got the Crimson Storm (15-2-0, 10-0 SAC) on the board by rebounding her own block and putting it into the net at the 20:20 mark of the first half.
After Lauren Vabolis made it 2-0 in the 47th minute off an assist Bekah Stewart, Acevedo broke the match open by assisting on a score by Bruna Da Cas just two minutes later for a three-goal lead.
Nicole Farquhar got the Lady Evangels on the board off a corner ball feed from Julia Nimal at the 62:56 mark, but it wouldn't be enough as Acevedo finished off the scoring on a feed from Mia Vabolis with just 15 seconds left in the match.
SNU out-shot the Lady Evangels by a whopping 48-6 margin, with
Melissa Dobie making a career-high 16 saves for MACU. Rachael Wade made two stops for SNU.
The Lady Evangels will now await their fate in the SAC Postseason Tournament. They have already clinched a spot in the tourney and currently sit in the fourth position in the SAC at 6-4-1 in the conference and 11-5-1 overall, one point ahead of Rogers State. The top four teams in the SAC host the quarterfinal round of the SAC Tournament, but RSU needs just one win in their final two matches to pass MACU for the fourth spot.
