Women's Soccer picked sixth in SAC Preseason Poll

OKLAHOMA CITY -- After finishing in the top five of the conference the past two seasons, the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels have been picked to finish sixth in the SAC preseason coaches poll.

Defending regular season champion Oklahoma City University has been selected to again take home the crown after receiving seven of a possible eight first-place votes.  Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team.

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma came in second and garnered the final two first-place tallies.

It was then Oklahoma Baptist University, John Brown University and Rogers State University rounding out the top five, followed by MACU, Lubbock Christian University, Wayland Baptist University and St. Gregory's University.

The Lady Evangels finished tied for fifth last season with RSU with a 6-4-1 league mark after finishing third in 2010 with a school-best 8-2-1 conference record.

MACU will return three senior first-team all-conference performers in goalkeeper Melissa Dobie and forwards Kassie Byrd and Julia Nimal.

The season opener for the Lady Evangels will be on Aug. 24 at home against Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
