Knights Strike Late to Clip Lady Evangels, 4-3

Cedar Hill, Texas -- In a match of twists and turns, the Northwood University Knights snapped a 3-3 tie with a score late in the second half to knock off the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels 4-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference action Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 1).

The Lady Evangels (5-3, 0-2 SAC) had rallied from three goals down on the strength of two goals from Ciara Mitchell and the tying score by Brianna Jezioro in the 56th minute. Mitchell's second score was assisted by Chelsea Swisher.

It remained even until Karyn Forbes netted the game-winner at the 76:15 mark for the Knights in their first-ever SAC home match.

In the opening half, it was Laura Barba that helped the Knights (4-2-1, 1-0-1 SAC) take a commanding 3-0 with a pair of goals in the first 45:00.

Kenady Maynard again started in the net for the Lady Evangels and made six saves, with three goals allowed.  She was relieved once again in the second half by Kaitlyn Whitten, who gave up one score while recording four stops.

The Lady Evangels will return home and host Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Friday afternoon (Oct. 4) at 2 p.m. at MACU Soccer Field.
