Siloam Springs, Ark. -- Sara Lachance scored two goals, which proved to be all the John Brown University Golden Eagles would need to escape with their seventh straight win and defeat the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels 2-1 in a Sooner Athletic Conference matchup Thursday afternoon (Oct. 31) in Siloam Springs, Ark.
Lachance's first score came in the 17th minute of the first half that put the Golden Eagles (12-3, 7-1 SAC) on top.
They carried that lead into the second half when Lachance made it a two-goal lead with her second score at the 52:37 mark.
Kaci Power got the Lady Evangels (9-7, 3-6 SAC) on the board in the 81st minute with her 11th goal of the season, but JBU held on from there for the win.
The shots were even at 15-15, led by Power's match-high six shot-attempts. The Golden Eagles had a 9-7 edge in shots-on-goal.
Kenady Maynard made seven saves for the Lady Evangels, with JBU's Kristen Morency stopping six shots.
Next up the Lady Evangels will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 2) against St. Gregory's University. The match is set to begin at noon at MACU Soccer Field.
