OKLAHOMA CITY -- The No. 18-ranked Oklahoma City University Stars scored four goals in the first 17 minutes and went on to a 4-0 win over the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals Saturday afternoon (Nov. 9) on the OCU campus.
It didn't take long for the Stars to jump on top as Allison Worsham scored the first of her two goals just 1:02 into the match.
Allie Glazner made it 2-0 for OCU in the seventh minute and that was followed by a goal from Vanessa Mendoza off a corner kick from Megan McMahon at the 13:14 mark.
Worsham then added her second goal at the 17:08 point of the opening half.
The Lady Evangels (10-8) held the Stars scoreless from there, but couldn't generate enough offense to get on the board.
Chelsea Swisher led the Lady Evangels with six shots, while Worsham also had six shots for OCU (14-4). The Stars out-shot MACU 19-11 overall and 11-5 on-goal.
Kenady Maynard made two saves and allowed four goals in 17:30, with Kaitlyn Whitten playing the final 72:30 and making five saves for the Lady Evangels. OCU's Alissa Reed and Ashley Bechtold combined for five stops.
The Lady Evangels will next host the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Central Regional Tournament at MACU Soccer Field, which is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 22-24.
