Swisher Receives NSCAA All-South Region Scholar Athlete Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The accolades just keep coming for Mid-America Christian University senior forward Chelsea Swisher, who today (Dec. 17) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region Scholar Athlete team as a second-team selection, the organization has announced.

To qualify for this award, the student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.3 grade-point-average throughout their career, start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor.

This is the third scholastic honor for Swisher, who also earned Daktronics-NAIA and NCCAA Scholar Athlete awards.

Swisher, a Math/Business major with a 3.8 grade-point-average, scored a team-high 17 goals this season and also dished out three assists to lead the Lady Evangels to a 13-8 season and capture their first NCCAA Central Regional championship in school history that clinched their first-ever NCCAA National Tournament appearance.

The 13 victories are the second-most for MACU as an NAIA school.

The Moore, Okla. native set a single-season school record last season for points with 52 (19 goals, 14 assists) and finishes her career second all-time in assists (27) and third in both goals (49) and points (125).
