OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels have been chosen seventh in the Sooner Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll, the league released today (Aug. 11).

The voting reflects what could be a tight race this season, with SAC tournament champion John Brown University (86) narrowly out-pointing defending SAC regular season champion Oklahoma City University (85).  JBU received six first-place votes, followed by OCU's four first-place tallies.

Coming in third was Texas Wesleyan University, with Oklahoma Baptist University and USAO rounding out the top five.

Wayland Baptist University was sixth, followed by MACU, St. Gregory's University, Southwestern Christian University and Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

The Lady Evangels will kick off the 2014 campaign at home on Sept. 2 against Jarvis Christian College.  The SAC opener is set for Sept. 26 at SAGU in Waxahachie, Texas.
