Greenville, SC -- Mid-America Christian University junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Whitten has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Student-Athlete of the Week, the organization announced today (Sept. 16).

It's the second straight week a Lady Evangels has earned this award, as senior forward Chelsea Swisher received the honor last week.

Whitten notched a 4-0 shutout victory over the Southwestern (Kan.) College Moundbuilders last Saturday afternoon (Sept. 13) in Winfield, Kan.

The Houston, Texas native made three saves in the net in the win to help the Lady Evangels to a 4-0 start to the season, their best since beginning the 2010 season 10-0.

Whitten has eight saves overall on the season in five starts, with a 1.08 goals-against-average.

Whitten and the Lady Evangels will look to remain unbeaten against Friends University Saturday afternoon (Sept. 20) at 2 p.m. (CST) at Dick's Sporting Good's Park in Commerce City, Colo.
