Lady Evangels Open Season With Record-Setting Offensive Outburst in 10-0 Rout of Jarvis Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels opened the 2014 season with a bang by scoring a school single-game record 10 goals to easily dispatch the Jarvis Christian College Bulldogs 10-0 today (Sept. 2) at MACU Soccer Field.

The 10 goals wasn't the only record set, as the 25 points scored (10 goals, five assists) are also a school single-game mark and Cici Mitchell's eight points (three goals, two assists) tied a school record set last year by Kaci Power (four goals).

The Lady Evangels wasted no time in getting going, jumping on top on a score from Chelsea Swisher just 9:20 into the game.

Goals by Karla Cabello, Mitchell, Brianna Jezioro and another score from Swisher gave the Lady Evangels a comfortable 5-0 lead at the half.

MACU didn't let up in the second half, as Jezioro and Mitchell found the net again just three minutes apart to make it 7-0 before Kaci Power got on the board in the 65th minute for the Lady Evangels' eighth goal.

Swisher and Mitchell then each completed their respective hat tricks to round out the scoring for the Lady Evangels.

Mitchell and Power also each dished out two assists, while Swisher had one helper.

Kaitlyn Whitten played the first half in the net before giving way to sophomore Taylor Files for the next 45 minutes.

The Lady Evangels were in complete control throughout, out-shooting the Bulldogs 36-0 overall.

The Lady Evangels will next play a pair of matches in Victoria, Texas, starting with host Houston-Victoria on Friday afternoon (Sept. 5) at 2 p.m. MACU will then face Louisiana State University-Alexandria on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 6) at 2 p.m.
