Greenville, SC -- Just one day after being named the Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, Mid-America Christian University junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Whitten has now been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the organization announced today (Sept. 30).
Whitten shut out the opposition in her 135 minutes in the net this past week, leading the Lady Evangels to a pair of victories.
Whitten made one save in the first half in a 2-1 victory over Bethel (Kan.) and then stopped a career-high seven shots as the Lady Evangels opened the Sooner Athletic Conference season with a 1-0 shutout at Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
The Houston, Texas native currently ranks third in the SAC with an 0.82 goals-against average.
Whitten and the Lady Evangels are off to an 8-1 start this season and will next host Wayland Baptist University Saturday (Oct. 4) at noon at MACU Soccer Field.
