Power Comes Through in Second Half to Give Women's Soccer Lady Evangels 4-3 Win at SCU

Bethany, Okla. -- Kaci Power scored both of her goals in the second half as the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels overcame the Southwestern Christian University Lady Eagles 4-3 today (Oct. 27) in Bethany, Okla.

The victory puts the Lady Evangels all alone in fifth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 4-3-1 league record.

Rochelle Bohuslavicky got the Lady Evangels (7-7-1, 4-3-1 SAC) on the board in the 13th minute of the match, but SCU jumped on top on goals by Sierra Knowles and Emma Keyes in the 27th and 36th minute.

After Amaris Smitherman netted her first career goal off an assist from Brittany Stephens to tie the score, Power delivered her first score on a feed from Brianna Jezioro to briefly put the Lady Evangels on top before Miranda Saenz scored to again pull the Lady Eagles (8-8-1, 2-6 SAC) even at 3-3.

But Power had a response and scored the game winning goal in the 74th minute on another helper from Jezioro.

The numbers reflected how close the match was played throughout, as the overall shots were even at 19-19, with the Lady Evangels holding a slight 10-9 edge in shots-on-goal.

The saves were also even, with the Lady Evangels' Kaitlyn Whitten and SCU's Kaylie Naumann each making six saves in the net.

The Lady Evangels will now celebrate Senior Day on Friday afternoon (Oct. 30) when they host St. Gregory's University at 1 p.m. at MACU Soccer Field.
