Waxahachie, Texas -- Kaci Power scored two goals in the second half to lift the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels to a 2-0 victory at the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lady Lions today (Nov. 20) in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Central Regional tournament.
The win moves the Lady Evangels into the NCCAA Central Regional title match for the second straight year, this time against Central Christian College (Kan.) tomorrow morning (Nov. 21) at 11 a.m.
After a scoreless first half, Power took over with goals in the 58th minute and then the 70th minute to put the Lady Evangels in control.
That was enough for Kaitlyn Whitten, who stopped eight shots in the net for MACU to preserve the win.
The Lady Evangels (9-8-1) out-shot the Lady Lions 27-13 overall, led by Power's 14 shot-attempts.
Kathleen Espinoza stopped 11 shots for SAGU.
The Lady Evangels will be hoping for a similar result tomorrow that they got last year, when MACU defeated Colorado Christian University 2-0 in the NCCAA regional title game to advance to their first-ever NCCAA National Tournament.
