OKLAHOMA CITY -- Cydney Lewis scored just 2:40 into the first overtime session to propel the McPherson College Lady Bulldogs to a 2-1 win over the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels today (Sept. 19) at MACU Soccer Field.

The goal came off an assist from Kayla Faust when Lewis got by the defense and slipped the ball past the goalkeeper.

The match was scoreless until Belen Villegas put in a successful penalty kick in the 83rd minute to put the Lady Bulldogs on top, only to have Kaci Power answer for the Lady Evangels by turning and blasting in a shot from 20 yards out just two minutes later to tie the score.

The Lady Evangels (2-4) managed to outshoot the Lady Bulldogs 21-11 overall and 9-7 on-goal, led by a match-high eight shot attempts from Power and seven shots from Cici Mitchell.

Kaitlyn Whitten made five saves in the net for MACU, while Sheryl Evans stopped eight shots for McPherson (3-1).

The Lady Evangels will next host the University of Houston-Victoria next Friday afternoon (Sept. 25) at 2 p.m.
