Women's Soccer Lady Evangels Post 2-0 Shutout Win Over Houston-Victoria

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Everything was clicking on all cylinders today (Sept. 25) for the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels, who shut out the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars 2-0 at MACU Soccer Field.

The victory is a big win for the Lady Evangels, as the Jaguars entered today's contest just missing out on the NAIA Top 25 this week as the top-vote getter, one point shy of the 25th spot.

It's also the third win in four games for MACU, who are attempting to rebound from an 0-3 start.

Kaci Power, fresh off of being named the SAC and NCCAA Player of the Week after setting a single-game record with eight goals in a win at Texas College, was on the giving side today by assisting on both of the Lady Evangels' goals.

Brianna Jezioro scored the first goal in the 18th minute after gaining possession off of a defender deflection.

Cici Mitchell then took a pass from Power and broke away from the pack at the 48:19 mark to make it 2-0.

That's all goalkeeper Kaitlyn Whitten would need, as she made seven saves in the win, including a pair of spectacular stops that kept the Jaguars off the board.

Ashley Rivas made three saves for the Jaguars (4-2-1).

The Lady Evangels will look to keep rolling when they begin the SAC season next Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 29) at home against Bacone College at 2 p.m.
