OKLAHOMA CITY -- Mid-America Christian University junior defender Jordan Stanbrough has been selected as the Sooner Athletic Conference Co-Newcomer of the Year, the league announced today (Nov. 7). Stanbrough shares the honor with Texas Wesleyan's Drea Molina.
In addition to the newcomer honor, Stanbrough was also picked as a first-team all-conference selection.
Second-team MACU all-conference performers were: senior midfielder Taylor Moseley, senior defender Taylor Moore and freshman goalkeeper Madison Donihoo.
Stanbrough was terrific all season long and a huge catalyst in a consistently solid Lady Evangel defensive unit.
The Yukon, Okla. native helped the Lady Evangels record six shutouts and post scoreless streaks of 329 and 191 minutes this season.
Moseley (Mustang, Okla.) scored one goal and one assist, while Moore (Moore, Okla.) was also a key component and steady anchor of the Lady Evangels' stellar defensive performance throughout the season.
Donihoo, a native of Mustang, Okla., provided MACU with strong play in the net as a freshman this year. Donihoo was credited with six shutouts and ranked second in the SAC in both saves (109) and saves per game (6.41). She was also third in the league in goals-against-average (1.23).
The Lady Evangels, under co-head coaches Zach Bice and Evan Dresel, finished the 2016 campaign 7-9-1 and sixth in the SAC with a 4-5 conference mark.
