No. 13 Wildcats Use Late Penalty Kick to Slip by Lady Evangels, 3-2

OKLAHOMA CITY – Kady Dieringer converted a penalty kick with just 2:43 remaining to snap a 2-2 gridlock and give the No. 13-ranked Baker University Wildcats a 3-2 win over the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels today (Sept. 13) at Evangel Field.

Six minutes earlier, Angelica Ceballos pulled the Lady Evangels even by blasting in a shot from about 30 yards away off a feed from Sophie Harris in the 81st minute.

Despite the Wildcats controlling possession for much of the early going, the Lady Evangels (1-3) struck first as Keanni Barnes scored off a deflection at the 25:14 mark of the first half.

The Wildcats quickly answered back four minutes later when Krista Hooper headed in a corner kick by Katie Hibbeler.

Madison Donihoo showed why she was named the SAC and NCCAA's top defensive player this past week by stopping a career-high 10 shots to keep MACU close despite Baker holding a 24-6 shots advantage overall and 12-4 on-goal.

Rachel Hunt recorded two saves in the net for the Wildcats (4-2).

Barnes and Brittney Stephens each had a team-high two shots for the Lady Evangels.

MACU will next play at Sterling College (Kan.) Saturday afternoon (Sept. 17) at 1 p.m. in Sterling, Kan.
